Who is behind the 106 Matheson street project, The Matheson… The Matheson remodel project started some time ago with the vision of protecting our historic and beloved landmark while preserving the legacy of Honore Valette’s first bakery, originally located at 106B. With our commitment to community, desire to keep diversified retail including Copperfield’s Books and goal to create a spot for locals and visitors alike to share the amazing place we call home we proudly present The Matheson
A third generation Sonoma County native was born here in Healdsburg and now continues the legacy with his family. Dustin’s wife Johanna is originally from Castro Valley, CA and loves life in Healdsburg. Together they are raising two amazing daughters, Charlotte and Adeline, in their great grandfather’s home in Healdsburg. Dustin began his restaurant career at 13 years old as a dishwasher for Catelli’s in his hometown of Geyserville. An apprenticeship at Chateau Souverain launched him into a culinary journey ending in the lifelong dream of opening his own restaurant back in hometown of Healdsburg. Dustin honed his craft in some of the most celebrated restaurants across the US before returning as executive chef at Dry Creek Kitchen. While there, he garnered acclaim for cultivating strong relationships with local farmers and purveyors in search of Sonoma’s best. The idea for Valette Healdsburg was born nearly two decades ago over a glass of wine shared between Dustin and Aaron on their fathers porch. In 2015 the dream became a reality and the restaurant opened its doors to the public. Since then, Valette has been recognized by Michelin, Wine Enthusiast’s top 100 US restaurants, twice, multiple James Beard dinners along with numerous other national and regional awards.
Craig first became part of the Healdsburg community when he bought a vineyard on Rockpile Road in 2000. The Vineyard was planted by Ulysses Valdez and managed by Jack Florence Jr. He currently has a home in Windsor and is looking forward to moving into his new condo at 106 Matheson Street. Most of Mr. Ramsey's business career has been in the high tech arena going back to 1968 when he joined IBM. Other companies he worked with were Amdahl where he met Larry Ellison, Oracle Corp where he hired Marc Benioff, Siebel Systems and Salesforce. He also founded Veeva, a public company, and Vlocity. He is most proud of his work at Glide Memorial Church which among other things feeds 1,000,000 meals a year to homeless people in the tenderloin of San Francisco. He is currently a partner with Michael Mina and Ken Tominaga of Hana in Rohnert Park at Pabu in San Francisco
Aaron also began his restaurant career at 14 years of age in the kitchen of Catelli’s, a beloved restaurant in his hometown of Geyserville. Aaron turned his sights to the Front of the House and for ten years Aaron refined his skills in the art of providing first class service at John Ash & Co., a pioneer in world-renowned wine country cuisine. Aaron then worked at Betelnut Restaurant in SF before moving back to Geyserville as Assistant GM of Francis Ford Coppola’s restaurant, rustic. In 2015 Aaron partnered with Dustin and together they created Valette. Aaron’s meticulous attention to details and warm charismatic service standards have garnered attention and acclaimed throughout the industry. Aaron is the General Manager of Valette and Wine Director of the award winning wine list at Valette.
